Bit of a fraught start to Thursday morning with a newborn cria presenting with what looked like a big umbilical hernia with lots of ‘stuff’ outside his body. Phoned the maestro (unfortunately not present as off on a collecting fibre run somewhere on the M5) and he said shove it back in. Not happening so phoned the vet and took the cria up to the surgery.

Thought the car felt a bit odd and sure enough flat tyre. Geoff, the vet, took the cria to deal with it and sent me to the local garage where another Rachel took charge and got the spare wheel on. I was in a bit of a panic and they were so very nice.

So far we have 18 cria on the ground, ten girls and eight boys, and another 13 to go. All have been straightforward until this latest one.

The kitten has grown, now 2.4 kilos and very adventurous. He likes standing on keyboards, chasing cursors and deleting one’s work whilst purring loudly.
