As usual Chas picked up some nasty bug at the Festival of Quilts and then generously passed it on to me last week. Thanks! This put an end to our plans to go to Newcastle for the Northern Wool Show as we were both way too weedy.
The beginning of August always means one thing. Matt Kyle is going to rock up to shear all the cria having shorn the main herd at the end of May. Two of the girls obligingly had their cria a couple of days before he arrived so we had 25 to shear.
They are really muscular little things and don’t seem to mind that much. We are left with piles of very short, extremely fine baby fluff. Unfortunately there’s no use for it as it is too short even for duvets.
We tend to leave the cria and their mums in the yard for at least an hour to sort out who belongs to who as everyone is a bit confused at first!
