It was great to meet up with lots of other breeders at the Midlands Halter Show, held in a big hall at the Three Counties Showground. It is extremely difficult to choose a show team as it just keeps raining and we have to get the animals properly dry to assess their fleece.
We set off with a team of nine, everyone got a rosette and three were awarded Reserve Champion sashes so we were happy with that even though the heating in the hall died, never to be revived, on the first day. I was very pleased to have my trusty hat even if I did end up with squashed hair by the
time I got to the pub.
Back in my grading barn, I’ve been working flat out to grade all the remaining fleece before eye operation number two. I am now recuperating so once again confined to computer work. Still I have the satisfaction of seeing 3.5 tons of baled alpaca fleece ready to go up to the scour.
