We want to introduce you to our beautiful suri alpaca yarns. This 4-ply yarn is lustrous, lightweight and has a beautiful drape just like the fleece it was made from.
These are pictures of suri alpacas in the show ring in Peru with several years of fleece growth. I don’t think any breeders in the UK would let the fleece grow that long as they would probably end up weighed down with mud.


Suri alpacas make up a small proportion of the world alpaca population and have a long fleece prized for its drape and lustre. Huacaya alpaca fleece has a defined crimp while suris have a twist in the lock. The same animal underneath just a different fleece style.

It you look at this picture of a group of cria you can easily pick out the lustrous suri from the huacaya at just a few days old.
Just to illustrate my point here are four pictures of a fawn and white fleece cut side up and cut side down. The lock structure is clear as is the lustre.
