It is good to be back on the farm although I keep getting drenched by many squally showers. The only compensation is a series of stunning rainbows and the glorious colours of autumn. They call it a ‘mast year’ and our oak trees have shed a massive number of acorns. A bit worrying as livestock will eat them and potentially get ill.

We body scored one of the groups of girls yesterday and all of them are in good condition. It always surprises me as they are out there getting soaked every five minutes but they are hardy animals.

My sons in London and Canada have been busy with all sorts of Halloween nonsense involving pumpkins, skeletons and running out of sweets for the hordes of trick or treaters. All quiet here as it is very unlikely anyone is going to venture down our muddy lane.

The barn is full of fleece and my grading has ground to a halt as we get ready for our two big back to back Knit+Stitch shows in Belfast and Harrogate.

They have never been back to back before so, somehow, we have to get double the amount of yarn and socks into the van. It will be rammed. Understanding how much spare yarn we need in which colour has made my brain hurt. I’ll let you know how wrong I was!
