It is grim out there with so much rain. Our fields are sodden and as we are on clay a bit treacherous too. The alpacas look like dishmops and the barn is so damp that the paper I use to write the grading results on has to come into the office at night to dry out.

We did have a bit of snow, very cold nights and then rain so the weanlings were in at night for a couple of weeks. Many wheelbarrows of poo to move every day.

They were booted out as the show team needed to dry out before the Midlands Show last weekend. I got the date wrong so we had a week less to halter train the three weanlings, nasty. Our team of seven did OK though with everyone getting a rosette, some a better colour than others!

Out of the rain we have finished the stock check, there really can’t be many things more boring – but at least we are dry and everything in the office, the barn and Yarnia now boasts a green dot. Not that we are lying around doing nothing, 450 kilos of double knit yarn is going up north for dyeing and some the naturals for steaming and balling. It never ends.
