The Home of British Alpaca At Its Best
Our latest yarns made from the fleeces of alpacas farmed in Britain are now arriving and we are back in stock with all shades. The new yarns and shades for 2016 are also trickling in and will have them all for the launch at the Autumn shows, and in our web shop soon after.
There will be new colours in the baby alpaca/silk 4-ply and DK yarns and an expanded range in the superfine 4-ply. All our 4-ply yarns will also now be available in 50g balls - saves all that skein winding!
We will also be introducing some new crochet patterns and don't forget to browse through the knitting pattern pages - new interesting designs from Chrissy Smith, Monica Russel, Sasha Kagan and Ruth Morris and our pattern book Mums Knit.
Shearing has just about finished for the British herd and our barn is filling up fast with the clip. We now collect from over 75 alpaca herds in the UK all contributing to the high quality of British alpaca in our products. Rachel will have finished the hand grading by the end of the year when it all goes up to Yorkshire for the processing.
We hope to see you all at the yarn shows now appearing on the horizon. September will see us in Harrogate for the WI Centenary show, in Bristol for the Bristol Wool Fair and in Skipton for Yarndale. October sees the first of the Knitting & Stitching shows in London Ally Pally followed by Dublin and Harrogate in November. We hope our new yarns will be well received.
With Christmas also looming we have our range of well established British alpaca socks now in new packaging that make excellent gifts. Ideal for solving some of your gift problems.
Back onto the alpacas, if you would like to see more about these charming animals please take a look at our Classical MileEnd Alpacas site www.alpaca-uk.co.uk.
UK Alpaca’s luxury yarns are manufactured exclusively in Britain from the fleeces of alpacas farmed in the UK
One of the ‘noble fibres’ alpaca is prized for its silky feel, weightlessness and warmth, and come in a variety of natural and dyed shades in DK, aran and 4-ply weights.
All our yarns are processed at the traditional mills in the north of England and have traceable provenance to British alpaca farmers.
We buy fleece from alpaca owners in the UK, hand grade it at our farm in Devon and then process into fully worsted hand knit and commercial yarns. Our yarns are made to the highest specification and are of a consistent quality.
They are fully conditioned and their consistent quality, super softness of handle, warmth, lightweight and strength are all hallmarks of these yarns.
UK Alpaca supports British alpaca owners by promoting a quality reputation and brand for British alpaca. We supply to both retail and trade, designers and actively support students in their final year projects.
We maintain excellent stocks of yarns and dispatch same day on all orders received before midday. Please see the wholesale section for trade and volume enquiries.
